High Plains Storm Clouds
Thunderstorms blow up quickly over the high plains. You can see it is probably raining from the distant clouds and it may soon be raining here. However, you can also tell from the vegetation it doesn’t rain all that much here. In other words, it’s not easy to tell if the clouds really mean something or not.
This picture was taken near Edgewood, New Mexico, USA. Their is an active sailplane airport near Moriarty, which is about 12 miles southeast of here. You can believe sail plane pilots keep their eyes on clouds like this and avoid them if at all possible. I’m sure you can puck up a lot of life around the edges of these storms; I suspect you could get so much lift you pulled the wings off too.
